New Teacher Training – WHAT WE DO
New Teacher Training -New Teacher Center is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving student learning by guiding a new generation of educators. NTC has made it our mission to overcome challenges teachers and students face by providing all educators with the support and resources necessary to succeed from their first day to their last. By working in conjunction with school districts, state policymakers and educators from across the country to increase the effectiveness of teachers and school leaders at all levels, NTC has developed a series of results-oriented programs that align with district learning goals and address teacher induction, instructional coaching and school leadership development. All of these programs take place on premises within local school environments.
WHY WE DO IT
When we focus on teachers, students succeed. NTC understands that providing educators at all levels with the foundation and supporting infrastructure necessary for individual success, it translates to the success of society as a whole. We also recognize that new teachers and administrators are often placed in difficult assignments in high-need schools which can be extremely discouraging for novice teachers, causing many to leave the profession after only a few years. It is these schools in particular, with low-income and minority students, that need high-quality teachers the most. And, finally, improving teacher effectiveness delivers on the promise of public education and helps bring equality in education to all children across the country.
HOW WE DO IT
NTC strengthens districts from within, supporting partners every step of the way to put results-oriented programs in place for new teachers, experienced teachers and school leaders alike. Itâs a collaborative approach, combining partnersâ context-specific knowledge with NTCâs broad and deep understanding of research and best practices.
NTC incorporates multiple types of teacher support, including high-quality mentoring, common planning time and ongoing support for and from school leaders, in order to improve student achievement, increase teacher effectiveness, and dramatically reduce the turnover rate of new teachers.
NTC works with the community at large to ensure there is ongoing district support, financial and otherwise. Support from philanthropic organizations, government grants, school districts, and state organizations all play a critical role in making this work possible.
