I’ve always thought that safety training fell short, mainly because it was developed either by safety professionals with no training expertise, or by training professionals with no safety expertise. I penned this article for the new digital (well it’s also in the print edition) Facility Safety Management magazine:

Research has shown that the average person retains less than 20% of the training that he or she receives.
